Join me in the forest

Do you remember when we were free range children, running and playing outside and told not to come home until the sun starts to go to sleep? Before cell phones, before the Internet, before streaming EVERYTHING became a thing. Life was so much simpler then. It was okay to feel ‘bored’ and let our minds wander. It was okay to have downtime, just playing with sticks in the grass, noticing the moss on the logs and looking for treasures in the dirt. NOTHING else mattered but that present moment.

Last year, my friend, Rachael West, and I managed to get outside together a lot. In fact, we spent my 47th birthday together hiking near the Niangua river and picnicked in a natural tunnel. It was the best way to celebrate being alive for another year and that day we decided to make it more of a regular thing. It was around that time I felt inspired to use a new name that serves as a container for the various facets of my practice and passions. Thus, ForResting the Soul was born. But, what does that actually mean?

for·est  verb
gerund or present participleforesting
cover (an area) with forest.
“the northern parts of the province are heavily forested by coniferous trees”
We are energetic beings and if you look at the science behind it, we are comprised of all of the same exact elements as the earth and outer space; we ARE the universe. But, the thing is that we are now inundated with a multitude of energy fighting for our attention. EVERYTHING is energy, it’s just that some things are vibrating at different frequencies which changes its form and structure. So much of this is happening without our awareness. My desire is to not only help you become aware of this forcefield around you and how it affects you, but to help you ground yourself by connecting with the earth, essentially covering your SOUL with forest for the purpose of resting in the present moment.
Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised. It’s only right here and now that we are truly experiencing this life of ours. I reconnected with a friend this week who happens to be a little bit older than me and while we were talking she made a statement that resonated BIG TIME with me. She said, “I figure I only have about 30 good summers left, so I’m making the most of them!”
We don’t truly know how many years we have left wearing these organic spacesuits on this planet, so don’t you think it’s pretty important to slow the fuck down and enjoy it? Stop to smell the flowers and enjoy the sun on your face, even if it’s just for a short walk in the morning before work?
Earthing IS a thing. There are millions of people who literally go outside and intentionally walk barefoot on the earth to be and feel grounded. I encourage you to research it and find out for yourself why it’s becoming more and more important to stay grounded as the world around us becomes more and more technologically enhanced and energized.
Look for hiking opportunities coming this spring! We’ll venture to many different locations near Springfield to get outside and connect with nature.
