Simplicity is the key to freedom and maintaining balance. There are a handful of things I have been recommending to clients for decades and while it has evolved over the years, the list has been consistent. Now, age and wisdom have contributed greatly to understanding why these things are so very important.
What can I do to help maintain balance and simplicity for a better quality of life? This is the question I get many times per week once a client climbs off my table, finding themselves aware, sometimes for the first time that month, of how their body feels and what it’s saying to them. It’s time to learn to feel again and it’s time to thrive, not just survive.

Meet with a mentor regularly, get a massage and/or energy bodywork session at least once per month. Yes, hire someone to help you maintain accountability. Why? Awareness is the first step of healing and without practicing some intentional form of stillness and observation, you won’t have the awareness it takes to discover the possibilities available to you and hold yourself accountable.
Maintain your fascia daily. No matter how you’re doing this, it is important to take care of your connective tissue, or fascia, on a very consistent and regular basis. Whether this is by utilizing FRC, attending a yoga class or using at-home fascia tools, maintenance of this very important web that ties our body together is crucial to mobility, pain relief and injury prevention.
Get outside. Go for a walk, a hike, a bike ride, kayak or canoe down a river, sit by the ocean or stream, or simply stand in the grass in your backyard and listen to the birds. Nature is medicine and earthing has numerous health benefits.
Connect with others and allow vulnerability, but set healthy boundaries. Be human and connect with other humans. Whether this is at your church, sacred sister circle, pickle ball, pot luck, volunteering for a good cause or sitting in a cacao ceremony….don’t isolate. We were created to commune with others, learning and growing, witnessing and being seen….and not just on social media. Stay connected, but be mindful of who and what you’re connecting to. Protect your energy and learn to say no when it doesn’t feel right.
